The Barrett Township Police Department is now accepting applications for the position of full time Police Officer.  Applications shall be submitted to Barrett Township by August 21, 2009, to be considered for the up-coming position of police officer.

Applications received after August 21, 2009, will be kept on file for future employment opportunities for the position of police officer.

Minimum requirements to become a Barrett Township Police Officer include:

• Minimum age of 21 years old.

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• A valid Pennsylvania driver's license, or eligible to obtain a valid Pennsylvania driver's license  before appointment.

• Successful completion of the Pennsylvania Municipal Police Officer's Academy (Act 120).  The Barrett Township Police Department does not sponsor new hires through the academy.

• Meet the qualifications established by the Municipal Police Officer’s Education and Training Commission for certification as a police officer in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, under Title 37, Subchapter B, Section 203.11.

• Successful completion of written exam, physical agility test, oral interviews and polygraph testing.

• Satisfactory background as investigated by the police department, including a stable work history, no criminal convictions, a driving record demonstrating responsible and safe use of motor vehicles, and a general history of dependability and honesty.

Upon a conditional offer of employment, prospective applicants must:

• Successfully complete both a physical examination by a licensed medical physician and a psychological exam by a licensed Psychologist.

• Successfully complete a firearms qualification course administered by the police department's Firearms Instructor.
