"We Care"

This program is designed to provide added personal security to the elderly, disabled, or ill residents of Barrett Township who live alone.  The Barrett Township Police Department maintains a list of the participants in the "We Care" program, including their name, telephone number, and address.  The police department also maintains a list of their emergency contacts, residence key holders, and other important information.

Each day between 9:00 A.M. and 11:00 A.M., the participating person is to call the Barrett Township Police Department at (570) 595 - 3476 and "check in", so that the police department knows everything is fine and they are well.  If no call is received by 11:00 A.M., the police department will place a call to the participant.  If the police department is unable to make contact with the participant, an officer will be dispatched to the participant's residence to check on their well being.

No "check in" calls are to be made on weekends or holidays.

To obtain an application for the "We Care" program, please contact the Barrett Township Police Department at (570) 595 - 3476 or appear in person at the Barrett Township Police Department's headquarters.  You may also download an application, and submit it via U.S. Postal Mail.

"ChildPrint ID Kit"

The "ChildPrint ID Kit" is provided by the Barrett Township Police Department and is completed in conjunction with the child's parents or legal guardians.  The kit contains personally identifying information about your child, including their personal and medical information, dental records, physical characteristics, fingerprints, and a recent photograph.  Included with the kit is a list of child safety tips for you to review with your child.

The kit, which is retained by the child's parents or guardians, will assist law enforcement in locating and identifying the child in the event that he or she goes missing.

Please contact the Barrett Township Police Department to obtain a "ChildPrint ID Kit" for your child.

"Property Checks"

The "Property Check" program is offered to residents of Barrett Township who will be leaving their residence unattended for an extended period of time.  The police department will retain the form on file during the period of the resident's absence, and will attempt to check the residence periodically and inspect the physical security of the property.

In the event the police department discovers an issue that needs to be brought to the attention of the resident, the police department will contact the resident or their designee to advise them of the situation.

While the police department will make every attempt to periodically inspect the premises, the police department cannot guarantee the security of the premises and is not responsible for any damages that occur from third parties during the resident's absence.

Please contact the Barrett Township Police Department to obtain a "Property Check" application, or download the application here and submit it via U.S. Postal Mail.

"Public Fingerprinting"

The Barrett Township Police Department offers free fingerprinting services to the public for employment, background checks, or other purposes.  The police department provides these services on an as-needed basis, and when an officer is available.

Please bring the fingerprint cards supplied to you, as the police department does not stock these public use cards.

"Alarm Registration"

Barrett Township has enacted an ordinance requiring all burglar and fire alarm systems installed in businesses and residences in Barrett Township to be registered with the Barrett Township Police Department.

Alarm registrations are subject to a one-time fee.  The registration fees are:

           New registration - $35.00

           Transfer - $20.00

The Barrett Township Police Department retains the registration information on file.  This will assist the police department in the event that it becomes necessary for the police department to contact the resident or property owner, and assists in locating the residence or business if the alarm is activated.

Please contact the Barrett Township Police Department to obtain a copy of the registration paperwork, or download a registration form here.  These forms can be submitted by U.S. Postal Mail, and must be accompanied by the appropriate registration fee.
